Park Benches – Perfect for Creating an Inviting Outdoor Environment

A great way to make an inviting outdoor environment is to use park benches on your property. It does not matter if they are simple or elegant, a park bench will show your neighbors that you would like the outside of your home to be enjoyed by everyone. Park benches are also a great way to meet people since when people see a park bench in a nice outdoor environment, they usually want to sit down and relax for a while.

In a way park benches are a sort of open invitation for people to have a seat and relax enjoying the outdoors. They can sit down and take advantage of whatever you have around the outdoor areas of your house whether it be a beautiful garden, a pond, or just a nice open space to have a seat. Park benches will also create some beautiful outdoor areas where you can sit with friends and family just visiting or having a little get together. They are also a great place to sit with your neighbors and catch up on the gossip in the neighborhood! The inviting atmosphere that park benches bring about can be a great social atmosphere while enjoying the outdoors.

Park benches are also not especially for the backyard or front lawn as they can also be placed near the front entrance to your home or driveway. Having a park bench placed in the front of your property will give the message of openness to everyone passing by. If you do not want people lingering around your property you should not place park benches where people will be walking by as it can be sending the wrong message when in reality you do not want them hanging out there.

Park benches, along with most types of benches, can be made from a wide variety of materials such as wood, concrete, and metal. Some of the more attractive benches can be made of wood as there are several types of wood that are common with benches. Pine is attractive but is not one of the longer lying woods. Cedar and oak last a little longer and are very attractive woods as well. One of the better woods for benches is teak, which lasts longer and is a very beautiful wood.

One way to ensure that your wood park benches last longer is to weatherproof them. If you do not weatherproof your wooden park benches they can warp, split, and become brittle as well as being less resistant to insects. For metal benches it is also a good idea to coat the metal with some type of rust resistant covering to make sure that the metal does not rust and will stay more stable for a longer period of time. There are many styles of park benches to choose from whether it be a Hyde Park teak bench or a personalized concrete park bench. The style is up to you as they can be great additions for around the outside of your home.

Will a Domain Search Lead to Someone Else Stealing My Domain Name?

Over the years I have come across a few people who believe that if they search for domain names using any of the domain registrars on the internet there are people ready to steal their domain name ideas. This thinking believes that if you are going to search for a domain name for your new venture, you better be ready to register that domain name on the spot or risk having someone else see that you looked up the domain name and register it ahead of you…

So is this possible?

The short answer is no. Unfortunately though, it isn’t necessarily so simple. There are ways that someone could use to see what you are doing online and take action based on what you did. These methods would require at least one of three things. Either a keylogger that can track everything you type into your computer (usually delivered via a virus or spyware), a page that has been hacked to capture your details or a phishing scam where someone creates a web page that looks like a legitimate domain registrar but is in fact a cleverly devised page to capture your domain name ideas.

How likely are any of these options? The best protection from a keylogger is to have a recently updated anti-virus program. Hacked websites are a little harder to be able to detect. It is also much more rare. While it is possible for you to land on a domain registrars website that has been hacked, it is unlikely. A close cousin to a hacked website is running into a well designed phishing scam. I am not aware of any phishing scam centered around the registration of domain names. This doesn’t mean it can’t happen, but I’m not aware of any such scams.

So how can you protect yourself for scam artists?

Visit sites that you can trust. Look for websites that don’t look like they have been thrown together by a child. Make sure you are protecting your computer with a good anti-virus program. Don’t click on links found in emails to go to a website, instead, type in the web address directly to reduce the chance of being fooled.

I counsel you to do your domain name brainstorming searches in peace. Know that stealing domain names is uncommon. If a domain you have identified as available gets registered between the time you do an availability search and the time you try to register it, it very well may be chalked up to the fact that there are hundreds of thousands of people registering domains worldwide at any given time. If the domain name you looked at was an especially good one, chances are someone else would think so too.

How To Save Money On Your Heating Bills

How much do you think you spend on your heating bills at present? According to the Energy Saving Trust, on average half the money spent on utility bills in the UK goes towards heating and hot water.

Is it therefore any surprise that come the first sign of winter, many households have the same debate rumbling on, whether to put the heating on. But, did you know that by taking precautionary steps, you can reduce your energy bills at the same time as keeping your home warm. Five top tips we recommend are…

Make an Extra Layer Your First Choice:

Many of us opt to switch the heating on the moment that we feel a chill in the home. Automatically reaching for the heating will cause your energy bills to rocket. Instead, your first option should be to make an extra layer of clothing your first choice to keeping warm.

Have Your Boiler Serviced Annually:

As with all appliances within the home, general usage can take its toll on your boiler. This wear and tear will leave your boiler performing below its optimum level, hindering its efficiency and costing you more in energy bills.

To reduce the risk of wear and tear on your boiler, you should have it serviced annually. Ideally the service should take place before winter takes hold.

Along with getting your boiler serviced, it’s also recommended to install a CO2 alarm next to the boiler.

Bleed Your Radiators:

If you’ve put your heating on and found that the top of your radiator is cooler than the bottom, then you’ll need to bleed them. This isn’t a difficult task, nor is it time consuming. But it is one which should be carried out at the earliest opportunity to save you money on your energy bills.

To bleed your radiators, all you’ll need is a radiator key and a towel.

With your heating off, use the radiator key to turn the valve at the top of the radiator to release any trapped air. Whilst doing this, hold the towel just below the valve to catch any water which may trickle out. As soon as water appears, close the valve.

Set TRVs Low:

Many modern radiators come with TRVs, which enable you to set the temperature of the individual radiator. Whilst many of us will turn the TRV to six, this will cost you money without heating the room any quicker.

To help save money on your energy bills, set the TRV to its lowest setting, before gradually turning them up until you find a comfortable room temperature. It’s also recommend to keep the TRVs on a low setting in rooms which aren’t frequented often. This will help keep the room warm without wasting heat.

Utilise Natural Heat:

OK, so the sun isn’t as strong during the winter months, it can still provide the required warmth to naturally heat your home. To make the most out of the natural warmth from the sun, leave your curtains open during the day, and closed during the evening.

Along with closing your curtains during the evening, it’s also a good idea to keep internal doors closed where possible.

These five simple steps will help you to save money on your heating and energy bills, at the same time as keeping the house warm. But, for those who are looking for an additional heat source there are a number of portable radiators available which will provide the heating requirements you need.
